At Levi H. Dickey Elementary School, our mission is to provide a high-quality education that empowers every student to reach their full potential and become a lifelong learner. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are a community of educators committed to student success by providing a safe, secure, and college ready environment. The whole child is our focus.
All students are equipped with Advancedment Via Individual Determination (AVID) academic strategies and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) social-emotional strategies to be lifelong learners and to smoothly transition into secondary education.

Principal's Message
Welcome to Levi H. Dickey Elementary School. My name is Dr. Patricia Custodio; I am your child’s principal and committed to this school and its mission to provide your child a safe, quality education.
Our vision statement states: We are a community of educators committed to student success by providing a safe, secure, and college ready environment. The whole child is our focus. All students are equipped with Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) academic strategies and Positive Interventions and Supports (PBIS) social-emotional strategies to be lifelong learners and to smoothly transition into secondary education.
The Levi Dickey staff has internalized our vision statement through the implementation of three main programs. The first program to highlight is that we are a No Excuses University (NEU). NEU is our overall culture that guides how we do business at Levi H. Dickey Elementary School. Being a No Excuses University school means that we focus on six exceptional systems: a culture of universal achievement, collaboration, standards alignment, assessments, data management and interventions. As part of these exceptional systems, we routinely implement a Response to Intervention (RtI) twice a year. In this process, we review the progress of every student on campus to ensure their individual academic and behavioral needs are met.
On a weekly basis, we ensure our teachers actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC). During these weekly collaborations, teachers are given the opportunity to do grade-level and vertical articulation. In addition, they focus on the essential common core standards the district has selected for each grade level. This allows for teachers to provide focused, in-depth lessons and assessments to our Eagles.
The second program that we focus on here at Levi H. Dickey Elementary School that supports our six NEU exceptional systems is AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). The AVID program provides our teachers various college readiness strategies that focus on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading. All skills our Eagles need to be successful as lifelong learners.
To ensure a well-rounded education, we also focus on student behavior. We have implemented Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) at Levi H. Dickey Elementary School. PBIS allows for a school-wide focus on promoting positive student behaviors, as well as provide students that need more intensive behavioral supports the opportunity to partake in programs that are tailored to their individual needs. These three programs have guided us towards earning the 2022 Pivotal Practice Award from the California Department of Education, the Platinum award for our Positive Behavior Intervention Supports two years running, as well as, certified and the first AVID Elementary Showcase School in San Bernardino County.
